Carmen J. Cuetos was born in Valencia, Venezuela. She was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2002. Carmen earned her Law degree in 1989 from Santa Maria University in Caracas, Venezuela. In 2002 she received her Juris Doctor degree with a concentration in International Legal Practice from Nova Southeastern University Law School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
At NSU she was the Editor in Chief and Founding member of the NSU International Citator. She also served as the International Citator Editor of the NSU Journal of International & Comparative Law. In addition, Carmen received an award for Extraordinary Leadership as Editor in Chief of the NSU International Citator An award that bears her name was created for future outstanding Citator Editors.
Carmen began her legal career in her native Venezuela in 1984 as a law clerk for a criminal defense firm. After graduating from Santa Maria University law school in 1989, Carmen practiced in the public and private sectors. In the U.S, she was a law clerk for an immigration law firm and then for Montero, Finizio and Velasquez, where she later became an associate in 2002.
Carmen’s practice focuses on Personal Injury and Commercial litigation and arbitration; U. S. Immigration and Nationality Law as well as Business and Corporate Law. Her professional affiliations include the Florida Bar, 2002, the Capital District, Venezuela Bar, 1990, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, and the Broward County Hispanic Bar Association. She is fluent in Spanish.
